About

The View Royal Archives serves as a repository for materials representing the community’s history. This stewardship also involves ensuring our collections are accessible, accurate and appropriate for today.
We want to provide an objective environment and represent multiple perspectives, experiences, and stories. We also recognize some materials depict outdated views, language, and imagery. The Archives will manage these materials by current standards but will never alter or delete the original content. Archival records are snapshots of society at certain points in time and preserving its documentation is one of our mandates. Sensitive materials will remain available for in-person research but will not be reproduced online. This practice allows us to learn from the past and make informed decisions for the future.
Personal privacy is protected in accordance with British Columbia’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). This piece of provincial legislation provides guidance to the Archives on the disclosure of information.
